Traffic Update

Beginning on or about October 24, 2005, W. 56th St. will be closed for the bridge widening over Guion Creek, just west of Guion Rd. The road is scheduled to be closed for approximately 45 days. Westbound 56th St. will close at Guion Rd. with Guion Rd. to 52nd or 62nd St. as the designated detour routes. Eastbound 56th St. will close to through traffic at Georgetown Rd. with Georgetown Rd. to 52nd or 62nd St. as the designated detour routes.

PIKE TOWNSHIP – TOTAL CLOSURE

6056 West 71ST Street

Total street closure at I-465(street closed below on 71st street) to demo bridge from 7:00 P.M. TO 5:00 A.M. Closure of street to start October 21st and end October 26th 2005.
Westbound 71st St: Zionsville Rd. north to 79th St., west on 79th St. to Marsh Rd., south on Marsh Rd. to 71st. St.
Eastbound 71st St.: Marsh Rd. north to 79th St., east on 79th St. to Zionsville Rd., south on Zionsville Rd. to 71st St.

5935 West 86th Street
8600N/1W
Total street closure at I-465 (street closed below on 86th Street) to demolish bridge from 7:00 P.M. to 5:00A.M. Closure of street to start October 21st and end October 26th 2005.
Detour: Traffic going west will be directed south on Zionsville Road to 71st Street. 71st Street east to Lafayette Road. Northwest on Lafayette Road back to 86th Street. Eastbound traffic (Reverse).

5445 Guion Road

Total street closure of West 56th Street between Guion Road and Georgetown Road for widening of the bridge over Guion Creek. Closure is from October 27th through December 27th, 2005. Detour: Traffic going east on 56th street will be directed north on Guion Road to 62nd Street. West on 62nd street to Georgetown Road. South on Georgetown Road back to 52nd Street. Westbound traffic (Reverse).

West 56th Street

There will be restrictions on 56th Street due to road reconstruction. There will be widening of bridges on 56th Street over Guion Creek and Little Eagle Creek, and widening of road to 5 lanes on 56th street between Lafayette Road and Guion Road through January 2006. There will be two-lane traffic for use while other lanes are reconstructed.

71st and Marsh Road

My sources tell me that acreage on the north west corner has been bought by
Beazer and they are planning to build townhomes. It is a new product for them and this will be their test location.

Town Hall Meeting Recap

Town Hall

Ike Randolph, City-County Councilor for District 1 (most of Pike Township) had a wide variety of panelists and guests at the Town Hall Meeting. Among the panelist were
Karen Terrell, Pike Township Neighborhood Liaison, Susan Blair, President of Pike Township Residents Association. Also there were representatives from Health and Hospital, Dept. of Public Works and A Taste of Pike. Robert Turner, Director of Public Safety was there to give an overview of disaster preparedness for the city.

Some of the topics of discussion included City Services Consolidation, the Pike Township Comprehensive Plan, Lafayette Square area plans and IPL cutting down trees.

Town Hall Meetings are held twice a year by Ike Randolph.

Traffic Update

As of Wednesday, October 5, at or before 5pm, West 86th Street over Little Eagle Creek will reopen to traffic. The reopening of West 86th Street is 56 days ahead of schedule.

Total street closure at Eagle Creek Bridge between Moller Road and Deer Creek subdivision to rehabilitate and widen bridge from October 1-15, 2005.

Total street closure between Georgetown Road and Moller Road to rehabilitate and widen the bridge through October 15, 2005.

Total street closure to demolish bridge at I-465 (street closed below on 86th Street) from 7pm to 5am from October 10-14, 2005.
